NOA to supply wheeled renewable electricity to Idwala Industrial Holdings under a private offtake deal

Independent power producer NOA announced on 27 July that it will supply wheeled renewable electricity to Idwala Industrial Holdings, a South African industrial minerals group, under a private power purchase arrangement using the national transmission grid. Wheeling arrangements allow a generator to deliver contracted power to an offtaker at a distant site by transmitting it across Eskom infrastructure, a mechanism that has expanded significantly since South Africa's licensing threshold reforms. The transaction reflects the accelerating migration of large industrial consumers away from sole reliance on Eskom supply toward contracted renewable generation with predictable pricing. For industrial operators across South Africa, wheeled renewable PPAs are becoming the primary hedge against both tariff escalation and supply interruption, and the deal pipeline is now sufficiently deep to constitute a structural shift in the country's power procurement architecture.
