TGS adds Ghana's Keta Basin to multi-client seismic portfolio as frontier exploration interest builds
Seismic data specialist TGS added Ghana's Keta Basin to its multi-client library, extending coverage of a frontier basin on the eastern Ghanaian margin that has attracted renewed exploration attention. Multi-client seismic acquisition is a leading indicator of exploration cycles: data companies commit capital to shooting surveys where they judge sufficient operator demand exists to underwrite the investment through licence sales. The Keta Basin sits on the West African Transform Margin, the same structural province in which the Harper Basin and conjugate South American margin basin-floor fan plays are being actively pursued. Ghana's timing is deliberate: with Tullow being persuaded toward exit and the country's producing assets maturing, Accra requires new exploration to sustain the upstream sector, and de-risked seismic coverage is the precondition for a credible licensing round.
